Few, if any, creators see quick results when they first begin posting. It takes time\u2014and commitment\u2014to create a substantial number of videos, gain traction in recommendations and searches, and earn subscribers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On average, creators with 1,000 to 10,000 subscribers have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tubebuddy.com\/blog\/how-to-grow-your-youtube-channel-in-2020\/\">152 videos on their profiles<\/a>. To reach these numbers in about a year and a half, a creator has to post at least twice a week. Sound like a lot? It is.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But channel success depends on the sustainability of your content and channel topic. As you think about a year\u2019s worth of content,&nbsp; make sure you have plenty of ideas and enthusiasm banked.&nbsp; Otherwise, it\u2019ll be tough to hit the volume of posts required to make it big. Pick a topic that actually lights your fire.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Quick tip: <\/strong>Some creators have to pivot a few times before they find the right niche. Don\u2019t be afraid to change it up.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Don\u2019t: Forget your audience interests<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019re excited about your topic. Great! But will others share the same enthusiasm? For the fastest growth on YouTube, you\u2019ll need to get inside your audience\u2019s head.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/nextadvisor\/financial-independence\/how-to-make-on-youtube\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Jos\u00e9 Cayasso<\/a>, who runs a business channel on YouTube, told <em>Time<\/em> that it\u2019s smart to orient your channel around topics that don\u2019t have much content yet. \u201cFind questions people are trying to answer, and answer them better than anyone else,\u201d said Cayasso.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To do this, use tools like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tubebuddy.com\/tools\/\">Keyword Explorer<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tubebuddy.com\/tools\/\">Search Explorer <\/a>to analyze trends in keywords and searches over time. Nate Black, the creator of Channel Makers\u2014a YouTube channel about finding success on the platform\u2014said it\u2019s important to post consistently. But it\u2019s one thing to set a goal of posting every Tuesday at noon, and another to accomplish it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=lZZYgxisWfQ\" rel=\"nofollow\">As Nate explained in a video<\/a>, prioritizing consistency over quality will hurt your channel in the long run. So how do you balance the two? A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tubebuddy.com\/blog\/content-calendar-youtube\/\">content calendar<\/a> will be your new best friend.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you plan your videos out in advance, create a schedule that is realistic based on&nbsp; the amount of time it will take you to plan, film, edit, and post. But if you think ahead about creating several videos, you\u2019ll realize that it\u2019s smarter to start with the basics first. Ed Lawrence, a video production expert who runs the channel Film Booth, took the time to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=_aoQeSWeBxs\" rel=\"nofollow\">create new thumbnails<\/a> for older, underperforming videos on his channel\u2014resulting in faster growth in views and subscribers than he had gained from posting new videos.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Don\u2019t: Overdo it<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While making videos can be a fun and easy job, it can also be demanding. In a recent survey, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adweek.com\/brand-marketing\/influencer-content-fun-watch-too-bad-creators-miserable\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">78% of creators<\/a> reported experiencing burnout. Emma McAdam, who runs the mental health-focused channel Therapy in a Nutshell, said that she almost <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=HlG6NL3HCNs\" rel=\"nofollow\">quit her YouTube channel<\/a> the month she went viral. Once she gained real traction, \u201call of a sudden, the work seemed worth it\u201d\u2014but she wouldn\u2019t have gone on to gain more than a million subscribers if she had thrown in the towel.&nbsp;<br>One more nugget of wisdom? Jump in. Your YouTube channel will only grow if you start posting.
