Where CPM is about exposure, CPC is about action.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>CPC = Total cost \/ Total number of clicks.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-cpv-cost-per-view\"><strong>CPV &#8211; cost per view<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the cost per time every time the ad was viewed.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>CPV = Total cost \/ Total views.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NOTE:<\/strong> It\u2019s really important to understand that if you\u2019re eligible to earn a share of AdSense on your channel, YouTube pays creators for ad views and not total views. For any views generated, YouTube gives creators the majority share: 55% and takes the remaining 45% share. YouTube has <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.youtube\/inside-youtube\/2024-letter-from-neal\/#:~:text=we%20paid%20over%20%2470%20billion%20to%20creators%2C%20artists%2C%20and%20media%20companies%20over%20the%20last%20three%20years.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">paid over $70 billion<\/a> to creators of all stripes over just the past three years.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>YouTube pays creators for ad views, not total views.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Before we get to the heart of the matter, it\u2019s important to note that there is no single CPM for creators. We can figure out some averages but the actual CPM creators receive will vary based on the niche, the region, the time of year, and other factors including the whims of advertisers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The AdSense business model is auction-based, it changes by the second; advertisers are effectively bidding against keywords in an inventory. Some of these keywords are more valuable to advertisers and some less valuable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, some YouTube content niches \u2014 where keywords are in high demand \u2014 are more profitable for creators than others.
